Thanks for the heads up, Todd. Had same problem under Knoppix

BUT

it made me think of something else also very simple (of course and obvious too, duh.) I have two USB ports in front and 6 in back.
The ones in back work just fine - under Knoppix or Ubuntu, so I can at least
(mostly) work around the issue.

However, there is still power going to the ones in front, because if I plug in either
my PDA or Motorola phone - they start charging.

Now taking that a step further, I was attempting to work with moto4lin and kmobiletools
while I had a Motorola cell phone plugged into the front ports.

So as I trace things back - it appears that something having to do with that process has probably ^&#$ed the front usb ports &/or controller. I made sure neither package was running after I re-booted but still no joy when I
plug in a USB device in front.

Ideas on how they might be resurrected?

Dennis

It's telling you that it can't sync with the device because it can't
talk to the hub. Before you get exotic, can you get things working under
Knoppix? If not, you might want to consider whether you have a USB hub
that's gone bad.
