>>>>Anyway I want to upgrade Ivan's olc 1.81 to 2. I was wondering if anyone else has done this. There is NO quick fix for this. If you want to do things this way, sorry, but you'll have to put in a lot of work for it. Here's why I say this (the short version) --OLC2 no longer stores MobProgs in area files. So, you would have to find a way to separate the mobprogs from the area files themselves, or rewrite the code for how it handles them. While this is an option, it's not exactly easy to do. --OLC (whichever version you use) should ALWAYS be applied before ANY other patch. Why? Because if you look at the size of the patch, files affected and everything, you'll see that it's going to affect more than any other patch (including the standard rom color). I really don't think you want to spend hours dealing with a bunch of .rej files. --There is no (as far as I know) upgrade patch from 1.8x to 2.x. This would make life a little easier, but still would be a rather large pain to do (considering the above points). --OLC2 v2 handles commands differently (through cmdedit). This means that each NON stock command in interp.c and interp.h will have to be manually added into olc.
Solutions: A> get quickmud, deal with the limitations of 1.8x B> download stock rom, patch in olc and color (the only REAL benefits of quickmud), which will take, oh about 3 hours (if you're slow) to get running correctly. C> write your own patch for upgrading OLC to OLC2 (which will take quite a bit more time than it's really worth.. Why not just choose option B) ------------------------------------------- TJW: Head tech, Dreamless Realms Mud Personal: http://twhiting.kyndig.com Mud: http://drealms.kyndig.com Snippets http://drealms.kyndig.com/snippets Telnet telnet://drealms.kyndig.com:9275 The OLC2 Pages http://olc.kyndig.com -------------------------------------------
