If we need to be able to build on non-PAM hosts, how about this, then. * For non-PAM hosts, you get built-in authentication and nothing else. * For PAM hosts, you can use built-in authentication, or PAM, but not both. If we created a PAM module that authenticated against Citadel's user DB, then if the admin chose to use PAM, they could still get "mixed-mode" authentication, but it would be under the control of PAM's config files. How does that sound?
