[Ford II]

  all I was going to do is make sure it doesn't add spurious spaces that 
can't be disambiguated so that the formatter can make an intelligent 
decision whether to line break or not.  
  Is there any great value in saving the enter-space as the only newline 
thing or is that law gone already?  
  Can't promise I'm going to get to it, I was hoping to have free time 
this week, and after this week, I will have 0 free time.
