The only sound hardware is the built-in one: Intel 82801BA-ICH2 at 
0x1c00, irq 9.  So that's what appears in /proc/asound/cards as card 
zero.

I don't have /proc/asound/hwdep at all on either of my machines -- 
what's it supposed to be for?
