I suspect that our branch is a half-hearted attempt to convert to the new file layout earlier which ?Chris very kindly and expertly started and we royally screwed up. I went back to Dougie's original tarball and made it from scratch. Ben will try to fix the Glasgow branch, but I expect that will mean essentially killing it off with that stuff you paint on tree stumps, then grafting the new code onto the new trunk (to hopelessly stretch the metaphor).
