Hi Allan,

The makefile for linux should give you sufficient pointers for creating a Makefile for MingW. The reason for me to switch to cygwin and create my own branch of RPCEmu is that i prefer the posix and linux like env of cygwin. I also wanted to remove the reliance on the allegro library which does not help the emulator i.m.h.o. I currently have a branch that has diverted too much from the one by Tom but it could give a lot of opportunities for both platform independance as improvements in performance. For example my interpreter is about 25% faster.. It supports linux, windows and wince.

Jan Rinze.

It's always been compiled with GCC.

P.S. Has anyone created a makefile to build RPCEmu on Cygwin.
If so I'd love to have a look at and would see if I could get
it working and added to the RPCEmu development.

I think Jan Rinze did, I've never used it as I use Ming/W instead of
Cygwin.

Correct, i have used cygwin but it must be noted that MingW is much
more like the MS visualC env.
With Cygwin you will need adaptations in the sourcecode to make it
compile properly.

The cygwin environment is more like a Linux environment with MS
additions.

I agree you would want to use the Cygwin additions. I was just
wondering if you could compile it with a flag that excluded them
which would then lead to the possibility of sharing the makefile
with linux. This is probably too complicated though.

Unless you need things that only Cygwin can provide you are better off
compiling with MingW.

OK, I have downloaded DevC++ and MingW and got it to build. Is there
an equivalent of makefile or something that should be checked in for
this environment? Or a general makefile for building with MingW.

Regards,
Alan
