OK. FYI there's a devtool.bashrc that (iirc) fixes some shell compat issues if 
sourced.
(I've never needed to use)

Hmmm ... very odd.

But something is fubar ... cvs is usually dead-on reliable in my experience,
even if not as fully featured as other VCS systems.
