When an RFC is obsoleted this is reflected in the HTML and as concerns have
been raised that this needs to be clearer, this is due to be addressed as part
of the site redesign with a very clear pink banner [1]. However, with our
current limited mutability of RFCs, this important change in status is not
reflected in the PDF or TXT formats (or XML but people don’t generally consume
that).

I’d like to understand if there is appetite to consider, solely for this very
narrow issue, issuing updated PDFs and TXTs (and XMLs) of Obsoleted RFCs.

On a practical note, this could be a banner, a watermark (for the PDF) or an
updated header, but that can be resolved later.

Any thoughts?

Jay
