This sentence is literally about diagrams, but I’m not sure that this desirable transfers to math. (If you need an example: Take the last unnumbered math block in Section 4.2 (the one after Figure 2) as an example. I don’t think the target setting is explained in English text in this RFC, and I’m pretty sure it shouldn't.)
