Actually, I don’t know what that means. All math rendering will employ Unicode. What is meant here is probably a requirement to have *source code* for the math that is in one of the preferred forms of source code. And, yes, there needs to be a threshold for that that still allows me to write α / β in a paragraph without marking it as inline math. By the way, I remember the outcome of the previous Latex vs. MathML battle as a hands-down win for Latex.
