You can get the source code if you pay enough. The real problems, IMHO, are
that (A) it's not realtime (B) it has a confusing  programming model
because it mixes RT and non RT and (C) per license royalties.

I think the near disaster on Mars Lander is a warning sign about the VxWorks
programming model.
