RTLinux and/or RTAI allow you to use devices on the ISA and PCI
busses.  The NI RT boards are only capable of driving devices
that are connected to them, specifically, the 60[34]0E and 6533E.
The NI RT boards can probably give better latency and jitter,
but only by a factor of 2 or 3.  I'm not sure I'd be willing
to pay USD 1500 for a 486/100 when I can buy a PIII/500 for
significantly less than that.
