The theory is that the fifo device is something you plug into the machine and
you "plug it in" by having a RT thread "create" the other end of the fifo. We've
thought about getting rid of this restriction, but it seems like a pointless feature
and
we are very cautious about adding features since simplicity and speed are the primary
value features of RTLinux.
