While I asked about new manufacturers on this list, don't take it as not
supporting the current ones. The gentleman from R S Laser kits asked about
the S market and I asked on the list for interest in his current building
line. While he is selling laser kit buildings, they include fewer details,
eye candy, and the price will be lower as a consequence. Also don't take it
as not supporting BTS. I have a couple of BTS buildings and the new house
kit he is selling is nice looking and on my want list. I will be buying
Pine Canyons new buildings, more in line with what I want and will use on
the layout along some street running in a commercial section. I also
pointed out his new photos in the photo section before he announced his new
buildings.
MTH has considered the S market. Mike Wolf was tight lipped about which
segment though. I mentioned to him that "Scale S" would be nice to see and
his reaction was "we'll see." While he does a nice HO Pennsy engine because
he has to be close to get a foot in the door, the feeling I got from him was
AF style S gauge. He's looking at competing with Lionel, not quality scale
equipment IMO. Also he has many irons in the fire with his O, G and now HO
line so he told me S is a ways off in reality. He is shrewd and I'm not
sure going after his support in S would be what you really want. After all,
he openly complained about O scale 2-rail modelers being too picky and
grudgingly re-entered the 2-rail market after a several year absence.
