Hi All,

I am sending this out as a public service announcement. I am NOT getting any
remuneration whatsoever for this email. I have found a source of a bulk
material that can be used right out of the bag as track ballast. There is no
dying of play sand and letting it dry etc. This product is ready to use! The
company is HYPERLINK "http://www.estesco.com/"http://www.estesco.com. I was
quoted $17.00 per FIFTY POUND bag plus shipping. I am finding out that 50
pounds will go a long way. Since I just pitched it to Esteco this afternoon,
they are probably not completely ready not deal with us train folk on a 1
and 2 bag order yet. I advised them to ship it is a spackle bucket as the
thick paper bag will not due for UPS. I am sure they will accommodate us if
there is enough interest. Here is a 2MB photo of my modules with the ballast
applied. HYPERLINK

_Ballast.jpg It is a quartz material that is dust free, and is uniform in
color and size. The 50 pound bag I got was the medium gray “Trowel Rite”
product. I thought at first that it was just slightly too small for S Scale
but it is growing on me now. I think most HO scale modelers will drop dead
when they see this material. They make different sizes and colors as well. I
did not get into any details of what might be used to N or O scale. That
will be up to you.

I would expect it to cost at least $25.00 per 50 pounds to ship, but that is
still significantly a better price then the $4-5.00 per pound for the
Woodland Scenics materials.

I have added this info to my S Scale modules page as well so you do not have
to keep this email. HYPERLINK

S_Scale_Modules2.htm It will be here forever.

Do NOT contact me with any questions. Contact Tom Catrambone 1-800-248-2271
or HYPERLINK
