In case you don't know, the narrow gauge (3') K-37's were made from C-48's by the D&RGW. The boilers and cab were set on new frames (outside type). The tenders just had new wheel sets with narrow gauge spacing of the wheels in the standard gauge trucks. The easiest way to build isn't cheap; use a PBL K-37 for the boiler, cab and tender.

I was wondering how well the S Helper 2-8-0 mechanism would work in converting the locomotive to the Rio Grande prototype. Anyone else considering such a venture? It appears that the Rio Grande boiler diameter is larger and rides lower on the frame than that on the S Helper engine, but without plans I'm in the dark.
