Bill,  When Jack Troxell worked on several of these engines he turned 
the flanges of the tender down to a much better contour, so it more than 
just regauging the wheels.  I don't recall what he did to the drivers 
but I do know he got rid of a lot of the side-to-side play in some of 
the axles.
