Hi Rhett....Welcome to S scale. You are right about S needing a
correctly sized/shaped coupler that offers all the operational
advantages of an HO Kadee. The good news is that we are all aware of
the need. The bad news is that S scale's potential sales volume is so
small that Kadee, or any other coupler maker, is unlikely to invest in
the molds to make them. This situation has existed for decades and is
probably not going to change any time soon. Thus, we all make our
compromises and, being humans, we give priority to what is important to
each of us as individuals. Some want flawless operation (oversize is
good), some want realism (magnetic wands are OK), and some want a bit
of each (no wands, but a bit undersize). I sure do wish the S world
was perfect, but this is one of the realities of S. Anyway, it is a
minor point in the overall picture and, like the rest of us, you will
soon reach the point of worrying about more serious matters. Have
fun...Ed L.
