Rusty.....With this alternative you will lose some of the neat features
of the Tsunami. As you probably know by now, the Tsunami can "adjust"
it's sound in response to motor conditions (current draw, speed steps,
etc.). Thus, for example, as the train crests the hill the loud chuff-
chuff can become quieter and softer and rod clank sound cuts in as the
loco drifts downhill. All this can be automatic with Tsunami. But you
will lose the ability to do this if the Tsunami is not used for motor
control. With the two decoder alternative, there is no feedback from
the motor to the Tsunami. Thus, no adjustments to the sound as the
train moves around the layout. Another feature that is "lost" with the
two-decoder technique is the HARSH LOUD BARK when the train first
starts up and then the loudness gradually decreases as the train
reaches normal running speed. These particular features may or may not
be important to you, but at least think about them so that you can make
an informed decision. Having fun with DCC?.....Ed L.
