    Hi Keith, One can also easily make track gauges from acrylic
sheet, I use 1/4 inch thick plexiglas cut into rectangles just a bit
wider than the track width. Cut the rail slots to proper gauge with a
handsaw and they are ready to go. I make enough to place over the
rails every few inches for a couple of feet ahead of the spiking area.
The flat ones are comfortable to rest your hand on when spiking near
them....dave
