Ed,  I have the general perception that the opposite is true.  I've 
mentioned in the past about the problems I've had with the Overland 
Pacific and the Southwind Atlantic pulling what I think it should.  I 
think the lightest road diesel that I own might be a couple of AM 
GP-9's.  One engine does quite well compared with my Overland Mike with 
a lot more weight.  I think the factor I would put into play is that of 
grades.
