Hi, Peter
I have found that a thurough cleaning off of the rail down to shiny metal,
removbe all weathering and wire brush with a brass wheel in dremmel tool, clean
residue with alchohol, pre tin areas to be solderd, use NS code 100 rail
joiners or brass ones to join butt joints, the SHS joiners have a finish on
them that seems to repel solder. You may also be able to find code 125 joiners,
I found that the code 100 "flat" metal joiners work fine with a bit of
adjusting..I do not use or like the joiners that seem to have curled edges.
Hope this helps (oh by the way you can also solder feeder wires to the bottom
of joiners and have a "hidden" elec. feed).
S Gaugingly Yours,
Peter Loeb in OR
