Probably most important is determining if the lead truck is centered (front to
back) between the cylinders. I had to adjust that position on two of my three
GS-4's. Ajin "milled" a slot in a piece of brass stock into which inserts the
vertical mounting screw. If the slot is off-center, the truck will not swing
properly on a curve and the wheels will hit the front or back inside of the
cylinders. These pieces appear to be hand-made inserts for the lead truck
centers and my experience is that no two were the alike. Likewise for how much
swing there is left to right. I've had to drill out two of the three to make
them work. Otherwise the lead trucks will "rise" and the derail on entering a
curve...even 48" radius.
