Bob:
Back in the day, Korea builders had far less technology to draw on and many
early models were basically individually hand built. I would venture to say
that if you took any 10 locomotives built in the early 80's, you would find
several places where construction differed – and I'm not talking just detail.
I expect the GS4 falls in that category. When I first started working on brass
I would carefully dismantle and label each item (including screws!) in bags in
an effort to get every piece back in exactly the same position. Otherwise you
risked the "hand tweaked" factor.

Later, as builders invested in more sophisticated computer assisted/controlled
equipment, everything became much more standardized. Modelers today have
things way too easy! <GRIN>
