With all the broo-ha-ha about the RMC insert, I decided to dig it out of
my pile of magazines waiting to be read. I read the first article and
looked at all the ads and photos. So far I think it is a well-done
piece. After reading all the comments about the overwhelming amount of
AF coverage, I really didn't find that. Just my opinion, of course. My
first impression was that I thought most of the ads were scale-oriented
(I think two were specific for AF). I thought the first article (I'll
read the second one this weekend) was a very good one to get everyone up
to speed on the history of "S". The end of the article left with a
positive and hopeful feeling, because it seemed to indicate that S is a
growing scale. "So from an outsider's point of view, this scale called
"S" might be something to investigate further." This is what I would've
walked away with. I am glad it didn't mention anything about the China
situation, otherwise it might have turned people off.

By the way, I got an e-mail the other day from someone visiting my web
site and reading the Railmaster Hobbies' RS-1 construction article on my
web site. He said he isn't an S-scale modeler, but he is serious
thinking about buying that kit so that he can build one.

I wonder if the RMC article is going to have more people consider
S-scale. I think so. Maybe this guy found my web site after he read the
RMC article and did a generic search for S-related items on the web. I
dunno.

I agree with Andy and think this insert was a great idea and came out
well. No other magazine is doing something like that. You also don't see
a 16-page insert of "This is N-scale" or "This is G-scale". They singled
out S, and I think that is fantastic.
