Just an oversize middle.

Did you ever know how the Broadway Ltd got it's name?
The millionaire new Yorkers had the whole city to play in. But in strict
Philadelphia rules precluded that so the Pennsy money elite decided they would
get around that and created an all Pullman train for their girlfriends.
"The BROADway Limited.

  Rusty....

What one does depends to a large extent on the ultimate objective.

In my case, the goal is a completely finished layout before I move upward to
the great roundhouse in the sky. Thus, I have swapped and bartered my way
towards that goal since it saves a great deal of time compared to building
kits. At the age of 70+, there is no way I can build all the kits and also
reach the end goal. Simply not possible.

On the other hand, the objective for many is to enjoy smaller projects such
as building rolling stock from kits. Each project represents several enjoyable
evenings of leisure time fun which is fine and dandy. But that is a different
objective from having a finished and operational layout of considerable size.
Many folks who enjoy building kits do not have any layout at all.

I agree -- each to his own. There is no right and no wrong, just different
objectives.

  Cheers.....Ed L.
