The J1 is a non-streamline version of the Hudson. Can anybody comment on the AM streamlined Hudson drive? Is the wheel diameter and spacing correct? I suspect it is the pacific drive with a new trailing truck.
Of course, you COULD put the AM drive under a Flyer Hudson boiler to get a J3 version of the Hudson, with enough added details it would be a nice engine. Just last year Dispatch had an article about someone putting the Flyer K5 boiler on the AM pacific drive. S scalers have been doing that kind of thing for a long time. I suspect those wanting specifically a J1 type Hudson are not going to be satisfied with the Am drive and Flyer boiler option. How long has it been since AM released the last new locomotive? That may be more of why nobody is suggesting them as a source. Pieter E.
