Hi Dave....Just to clarify my earlier suggestion -- using a coupler with a 
reverse trip pin is one solution to the coupling-to-a-pilot problem.  And 
fortunately, Walthers makes an HO reverse trip pin coupler that mates well with 
Kadee and SHS S couplers.  However, I never suggested that turning the trip pin 
180 degrees was a good idea.  Although I have never tried it, I think the 
resulting looseness of the pin rotating in the knuckle casting will be a 
problem not much different from that in the old Bortz-converted HO Kadee 
couplers.  But if it works for you, that is great!  Let us all know the results 
of these attempts.  You might discover something new.  Ed L.
