Hi all --

Time to get away from the MTH/Lionel “other than track, no one knows anything”
discussion.

This week saw good progress on the track in the Coal Creek area, the terminus
of the Coal Creek Central narrow gauge. Three new turnouts, the major
tracks, plus two sidings have all been built/rebuilt and fitted. Only one
more turnout to go! I also started the rewiring of the area ( a good part of
this was salvaged from the old layout and the wiring had all been cut ), so
MAYBE one of these days I will be able to run the narrow gauge!

I had a couple of guests get to see the trains run, though they were not train
people. Well, one might have nibbled at the bait...

I also got back a bunch of painted cars that now need to be decaled and finish
coated, but one more thing sort of off the list of things to get done. Bill
Lane has helped me a great deal in getting the paint work done which has
probably saved me a few years of time in getting the railroad finished.
Another Bill has done some loco painting and detailing, also saving me a lot of
time. I’m like Ed L. in this respect – if I ever really intend to get the
railroad essentially complete, some things have to be farmed out to others who
can do them more efficiently. It gives me the time to do what I need to do
that can’t be farmed out, like everything other than paint!

Have fun!
Bill Winans
