Rachel, 1. Scale wheels will run on AM track, but not necessarily through AM turnouts, which are open frog. The guide rails are set too far in to pull the trucks and wheels to the outside to prevent the wheels from picking the frog. You need to modify the turnout so that there is better guidance. I believe AM has a fix, but then hi-rail won't run through them.
2. If you ask, AM will install scale wheels in AC equipped locomotives. If you get Ron on the phone he may ask you something like 'why would you want to do that?' in his gruff manner. Move past it and you will get what you want. A former dealer in MN had AM put scale wheels on AC equipment. I don't know what the situation is for steam engines. They probably advertise the way they do to avoid confusion because scale on AC is rarely done. 4. FastTracks will make jigs for any size/height rail if they have a sample. Because most scale guys use code 100 that is what you see most of. I think someone in our club, PPSSW, has some FastTrack jigs for SHS rail.
