Hi Don....
My use of the word "track" was meant to include the entire Lionel track system
which includes the switches as well. Just looking at the catalog photos
(drawings?) of the Lionel switches shows they are intended for AF wheels --
which makes total sense for a Lionel product. There is no way I could suggest
someone use the Lionel track system -- including switches -- with scale wheels.
Your point that scale wheels will work on plain straight/curved track is a good
one. No debate there. But scale wheels will not work with AF switches,
crossings and whatever else Lionel invents. My suggestion to Rachael was to
avoid splitting hairs and to steer her toward a genuine scale track system
instead of getting frustrated and tormented with switches that won't work with
scale wheels.
