Blunt ended axles are for??????
For the thousands of Nord, Northeastern, ACE and a several other trucks. For
myself all that I've made for myself and many that I've converted from the
pointed to the blunt axle ended. it makes it a lot easier to make Acetal
bearings. There is no standard length of pointed axle ends in S scale. The SHS
are not the same length others and when it comes to critical tolerances the
length of pointed axles is one area where you had better be right on or it wont
work, especially with equalized trucks. Not only does the length of the axle
come into play so does the taper of the point. Again, the mfgs. in S scale all
decided they would do it their on way. The imported brass models are also all
over the place when it comes to the dimensions

I purchased all of the remaining inventory of the RR Allied Full Cushion
trucks. The idea was to reengineer them so they were the correct width and also
be equalized. That was what I thought would be a good idea, it isn't. The axles
are pointed and the cups on on the side frames are designed with a taper that
lets the wheel set fall out if the truck is equalized. This means all new axles
and more work.
