Quite a few years ago, I believe it was around the time of the Ottawa NASG
convention, there was a gent from "north of the border" who had showed how he
improved the rollability of Ace, Kinsman and Rex
trucks using Teflon tubing he found. If memory serves me right, he said the
sideframes had to be drilled out a bit to fit in the tubing. I have no idea
what his name was nor where he purchased the tubing Also have no idea how this
stuff would hold up over the long haul. The trucks definitely rolled much
better. This was way before SHS or AM tapered axles hit the market.
Ace also once sold Delrin bearing inserts for their line of trucks using
blunt end axles.
I've also wondered why no one in S has ever come up with one of those
"bearing reamers" as sold by Reboxx in HO? They supposedly improve even free
rolling trucks.
