I've had a look at the MTH catalog, and I see the cover picture of  the F3 
ATSF 18 and the same loco back on page 4 are different.  Both are obviously 
photo-shopped, and differently.  My first impression was also that they got 
the war-bonnet back too far.  Then I checked this

and I'm not sure.

In any event, I can't support your assumption that they're just a toy train 
company and are bound to get it wrong.  Rather than an unhappy message to 
the 1000+ of us, a factual communication to MTH with supporting photos would 
be the appropriate way to go.
