Yes, this is not just an S scale issue, the Steam Era Freight Car list has been full of complaints, so try a small order first. Jerry Glow has had some prblems, but seems to be back and working. His sets are listed in HO, but he has been willing to do orders in S, including single sets!
http://home.comcast.net/~jerryglow/decals.html Railgraphics does custom decals, but also has car data in S which would save scrounging. They do them in yellow... http://www.railgraphicsdecals.com/Rail_Graphics_Decals_Generic_Data_Sets.htm Several vendors on the Great Decals site have or will do S decals: http://www.greatdecals.com/ Highball Graphics has printed sets in S on request in the past, and says he again doing custom work. http://www.mgdecals.com/homepage.htm That should get you started! There have been various stories about his Alps printer that died, folks suing him, girlfriend troubles, and issues with the Post Office. I can varify that I've placed orders about two years ago and never have received them. I contacted him, he had no record of my order, so I sent it again with no results. At this time my check remains un-cashed, which is a good thing I guess. On the other hand, I wanted decals for a Downs tank car and two CD hoppers that are aging in their boxes while I age waiting for them. Bob Werre PhotoTraxx Joe: Ill second David on Oddball Decals go there and have a look. There are some transition era decals to work with and heralds, if you are modeling later than 1965-68 this is a good place to start. Start small, the prices aren't that bad for a try out compared to customs. Chris Rooney --- In [email protected], "Matt" <nsrc119@...> wrote: > > Joe, > Investigate having custom decals printed.
