And Rich posted a nice example, which was how it was done before AM did their bay window caboose. Still not a "prototype" car really. I suspect the "cupola-ectome" was more common than removing the bay to get a steel off-set cupola caboose with a streamlined cupola; at least I don't recall as many such conversions in old issues of the "Herald" as bay window versions.
