I do the same with old beat up Atlantics & Pacific's (Non
collector types that need to be repainted). The only difference is I use SnS
Can motors to convert them to DC. The transformers are easy to come by & the
reversing is easier on a beginner. I also replace the headlight with a diode.
I have put a few together & hope to have about 10 done in time for
Cal-Stewart this year. I may look for someone on the East coast to sell them
for me at the bigger eastern shows Mike S.
