Anyone else ever have a problem with an order from InternetTrains.com?

I placed an on-line order in excess of $400.00 on 12/09/02. One of
the customer service reps sent me an email on 12/10 regarding the non-
availability of one of the items (AMI Instant Roadbed & ballast kits.
They had none in stock, and I had ordered 15!). I called on 12/10 and
somehow reached her on the phone (not their usual policy -- read on).
She told me what she did have in stock, so I agreed to the
substitutes she suggested. She said she would change my order. I
used a credit card, so should have been no problem with payment. I
even bumped the amount to a full case of 16 30-foot rolls and about
10 lbs. of ballast.

I told her I needed the stuff right away to finish my layout, and
she said the order would go out very soon. Great, that's why
receiving in-stock substitutes was OK with me. I waited and waited,
figuring the holidays were affecting ship times and finally sent an
email inquiry on the 3-week anniversary of the order. It was never
answered.

Customers are instructed at their web site not to call to ask a
question about a pending order -- instead, you have to use email and
wait "24 to 48 hours (their words)" to get a response. Hah!

Now I have to run around to hobby shops in the area at the last
minute to see if I can find these items so I can finish laying
about 450 feet of track to ready my Flyer for an exhibition (40
kids, scheduled for 01-11-03.)

Sheesh!
