Hi all,
    Sorry, another post about eBay.
I don't know all the list members eBay ID's, so I probably have bid
against some. If I should decide to not bid on an item because I DO
recognize a list member, I haven't conspired to reduce the marketplace, I
have made a decision that I don't really want that item so bad as to perhaps
upset someone I consider a friend. He/she may still be out bid, just not by
me. I have done this occasionally, and it has gone both ways (they won or
lost). That's the marketplace.
Sniping. Well, I don't use any software, but I have placed bids within
seconds of the end, just as would happen at a live auction. Once I logged
one and was chatting, when I remembered I wanted to bid on an item that was
ending soon. Whoops, ending in seconds! Quickly typing, I amazed myself at
actually getting in my bid--and winning! One reason I do this is that often
the item goes way beyond my value for it during the last 15 minutes, so then
I just don't bother to bid. You can look at bid history and see if someone
keeps rebidding on an item. You can be pretty sure they really want it, and
will probably outbid you. Or you can see where they dropped out too. Since I
now have regular work, I don't have time to watch eBay much anymore, and my
pocket book is much happier too! And I still have lots of trains to play
with. (But gee, that item looks cool. . . hmm.).
So, rather than debate eBay OR lawyers!, I'd rather look at all the new
stuff coming out and ponder where I'm going to find the funds to buy some of
it. Golly; log loaders, talking stations, a steam engine, those F units with
working marker lights. . . .Gee Hurk, TRAINS!!
(and as one ACG catalog said, "Wow, these colors are hot!")
