All, I sort of agree with Chris Z, but the American Models track was there long before SHS.
Don't get me wrong, I love SHS products and I have more than I can count (well, not quite, but still a lot). And Robin and Don have to be just about the best to deal with. But, when it comes to track they should have made a compatible product. I was really surprised when I first spoke to Robin about it. AM track is code 148 while SHS is 155. Someone said the SHS is more scale like. It is? Love the 5" spacing. And Flyer radius turnouts? There aren't enough ACG's on the market already? And the price........ The AM trackage is just like H0 to work with. The flex is like what other scales have industry wide, and more standardize is what we need, as Chris pointed out. I run Flyer, AM, SHS and this week one of our club members ran a scale, brass 4-8-4, on my .148 AM track system-- including turnouts.
