Got around to wiring in a 'Air Chime Whistle' to my track layout. This is my first experience with A.F. horns. When the button is depressed on the black bakelite horn body, all I get from the diesel is a loud chatter that sounds very much like a 60 cycle 'hum', almost as if a amplifier for a stereo had one of its inputs opened up. Then I tried my 'Diesel Horn' pushbutton apparatus, which looks exactly like the 'Air Chime Whistle' bakelite box with pushbutton and 4 prong oscillator tube in cardboard can and came up with the same kind of 60 cycle sounding 'buzz'. I purchased both of these 'whistles' on ebay and they look and wire up identical. What the heck is the difference between 'Air Chime Whistle' and 'Diesel Horn'? They both sound like loud 'buzzboxes' to me through the diesel 'B' chassis, and in no way sound like a 'horn'. Could the 4 prong cardboard covered tubes be defective? Thanks for your help, Mikey.
