Sage is too big to be on the live CDs of these distributions. Those
live CDs are prepared especially to let people experiment with the
operating system without messing up any of the software on their
computer, and they include everyday desktop applications as a priority,
not mathematical software.

Developing a live CD (hmm.. DVD) for Sage would have to be an
independent project. We could use the tools they developed to prepare
the images though. However, read below...

I don't think a live cd of Sage is necessary.

The biggest advantage of a live cd is that it lets you experiment with
the software without modifying anything on your system. This is great
for marketing purposes, but pointless for everyday use. Since the
notebook servers (sagenb.com) already provide an environment where
people can play around with Sage without having to install any
software, the effort to prepare/test/burn a live cd of Sage would be
wasted.

The situation is different for other open source mathematical software,
and there are obvious advantages to distributing them on a live cd to
spare people from the hassle of handling dependencies and build
problems just to try something for 10 minutes.
