I agree.  Maybe the main text box should have a lighter blue
background, or off-white?

The title of the page could be "Sage Mathematical Software".  Pithy,
and since open-source is the first thing mentioned in the text, I
don't know if it needs to appear in the title.

Maybe:
Sage incorporates many existing software packages (such as <fill in
the blank with some examples that might be meaningful to the casual
reader>), and also interfaces seamlessly with many others (e.g., Maple
and Mathematica).  Many people actively contribute to its
development.

I like the way the "boxes" at the bottom look, the way they're
highlighted when you mouse over them, but I *really* don't like the
fact that if I middle click on them, expecting Safari to open up the
link in a new tab, it opens it up in a new tab, but also goes to that
page in the current tab.  This seems to be specific to Safari: Firefox
on the Mac acts the way I want.
