Well it looks like their software is "financial" in the business sense of bookkeeping and accounting and related business support. When someone uses Sage for financial applications its more for modeling and differential equations and stuff. After they lost the famasoft battle they may not want to get too aggressive in their interpretation of 'financial', especially since quantitative finance things in Sage are just a small part of the package. I mean, one could say that the "Sage" Firefox extension can be used to subscribe to financial RSS feeds.
