In that case, it would be better to state that Sage uses MPIR which is derived from GMP. There is several sentences about MPIR.

Sounds best if it ignored. If nothing else, the GMP web sites includes awareness of Sage.

But if there is a Sage package for GMP, then the comment seems quite reasonable. I was not aware of that.
