This is always a good idea for valuable packages, but it does take
time sometimes.  Since "Final release is scheduled for October 15,
2010." of R 2.12.0, maybe we should open a ticket for it now?

By the way, can you update the description on this to show that
(thanks to you!) R *does* now build on Solaris?  I'm also not clear on
the current status of #7865 - not that I would have the expertise to
fix it, but it is nice to know.
