That's right. The motivation for this spkg is two students who are joining us in developing the cell server---I wanted them to have a one-step procedure for installation, instead of the mess it was before. I thought others might like to play with it, hence my post here. I'm not even proposing it be included in Sage (maybe I shouldn't have used the word experimental?)
I think eventually we'd like to either make an optional spkg or (even better) merge the codebase into the notebook.
