That's strange. I edit the flat text config file all the time in notepad without any damage to it...especially when I need to do global changes that aren't options in salive.
I can't speak for the company obviously, but from my experience you should be ok editing the file as long as you make a backup first that you can restore in case you screw something up :) I'm using salive to check about 100 services right now I think, and for each one, I just copy and pasted, all the way down, and then just changed the names, host ID's, and pretty names. Of course, from inside salive you can also click a host you know is configured exactly as you want it for a new host, and choose "new host based on..." -ryan. -----Original Message----- From: Jan Wilson [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Wednesday, July 10, 2002 4:26 PM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: [SA-list] Copying Entries Can anyone recommend an easy way to copy server entries so I do not have to enter and edit all 50 of our servers? We only use server alive on one computer - but still add each server and setting is time consuming. A normal text editor seems to damage the data file. Thanks!
