I'm building a web-based help desk system that integrates with it as well as MRTG, BB4, etc, so that whenever you have an outage, bam, it instantly creates a help desk ticket and can assign it to the proper staff member. They can categorize outages by cause, by resolution, etc., and track the man-hours it takes to fix the outages. The reporting is the big ace-in-the-hole: you can get real Total Cost of Ownership numbers by server because you can tell how much in man-hours each server is costing you, as well as how much in downtime hours. For example, at our shop, we know that about 100 users depend on the database server, and for each hour it's down, that's 100 man-hours of downtime. However, for our spare development database server, only 5 users depend on it, so it's 5 man-hours of downtime per server downtime hour. You can set all kinds of neat attributes like this in the help desk system, so you can get awesome TCO and MTBF stats. No more advertising here, though. I promise. ;-) -------------------------------- Brent Ozar - UniFocus -------------------------------- To unsubscribe from a list, send a mail message to [EMAIL PROTECTED] With the following in the body of the message: unsubscribe SAlive
